After a little exchange of a few words, William pulls out his revolver and shoots the teenager. During a preliminary investigation he shows no sense of remorse and claims to have just cleared the street of another piece of trash.

The child who was wearing a toy gun at his waist was unarmed and had nothing in his hands when Pulliam shot him. According to a policeman who was present at the incident and who filmed the scene, Pulliam knew that the pistol the child was wearing at his waist was a toy which presented no danger to him. The policeman says that in the film one can hear Pullman telling Means that he will be killed because of that toy at his waist as well as Means saying to him that he will not. Later Pullman told the police that he had killed Means because Means had pointed a weapon against him, which represented a danger to his life. Pulliam shot him a bullet in the chest and another one in the back.

Another witness of the incident relates that Pulliam fired a first time at Means who fell. When he got up, Pulliam fired again at him. Means fell and never got up again. After having killed the teenager, Pulliam calmly went to dinner in a restaurant and after that he went to visit one of his friends at his home as if nothing had happened!

William Pulliam, 62, was charged with murder at the end of April 2017 at Kanawha County Circuit Court. The trial is expected to start on 21 August 2017.
